Restoratively Driven Endodontics
The Premise:
Endodontics is fundamentally the study of how to save natural teeth.
Through excellent endodontics we remove sources of pain and infection and allow teeth to function longer, effectively extending their lifespan.
Negotiating a ledged canal, a superb irrigation protocol or a fancy obturation system are excellent skills to have — but they mean little if the root filled tooth doesn't last very long. And much of that is contingent on appropriate restorative management.
This course is designed by the experienced educational teams at Contemporary Endodontics and Incidental Training. It is a comprehensive endodontic programme that places equal emphasis on the long-term restorative component of the treatment continuum.
The collaboration:
Jon and Luca of Contemporary Endodontics are widely regarded as two of the finest endodontic teachers in the UK, with over a decade of high-quality, scenario-based, hands-on courses behind them both here and internationally. Incidental Training has built the same reputation in restorative dentistry, running sold-out hands-on courses from its Newcastle teaching facility.
This is our first training course together, but not our first collaboration — we have worked together on projects for several years, and launched a joint typodont range in 2026. Both came from the same instinct: that hands-on endodontic teaching should be better than it is.
Who is this course for?
You should consider this course if:
You want to comprehensively build your endodontic clinical skills and decision making taught by genuinely expert and experienced clinicians
You take referrals — or want to — and need your endodontics and your restorative thinking to integrate
You learn by doing, and you want the opportunity to learn in a collaborative problem solving environment.
The Shape of the Course
8 in-person days — four modules in two-day blocks (Thursday and Friday).
One year of contemporaryendo.com — on-demand access to support your learning before, during and after
State of the art clinical simulation - the programme will be taught in our bespoke training centre in Newcastle upon Tyne. Delegates will have the opportunity to train with microscopes, natural teeth in specially designed simulators and bespoke typodont scenarios we have designed and manufactured and that you will not find anywhere else.
This 8 day course is associated with 56 hours Verifiable CPD.
Price £6500 (INC VAT) early bird fee is £6000 available until end September 2026

Module 1: 4th-5th Feb 2027 — Fundamentals of Endodontics
The foundation everything else sits on. We go back to first principles — case assessment, prognosis, restorability — and forward to the techniques that are the cornerstone of modern restorative endodontics. Hands-on the whole way through.
Case assessment and prognosis
Restorability — the decision that should come first
Access — modern principles
Canal shaping — the principles, then the systems (multiple instrument systems explored hands-on)
Irrigation protocols that can move you towards single-visit endodontic treatment
Fundamentals of obturation, including warm vertical compaction
-
Module 2: 4th-5th March 2027 — Building Complexity
The canals that make endodontics hard. We work through calcified, ledged and curved canals; anatomically driven preparation; and the obturation scenarios that catch most clinicians out.
Managing the calcified canal
Managing the ledged canal
The curved and S-shaped canal
Anatomically driven preparation — choose the approach that suits the canal
Complex obturation: oval canals, confluent canals, bifurcating canals, internal resorption defects
Managing the open apex — collagen barrier and hydraulic putty technique
-
Module 3: 15th-16th April 2027 — Restorative Integration
These two days take a comprehensive look at both the decision making process and clinical technique for both pre-endodontic and post endodontic restorative management.
Pre endodontic isolation and build ups - from simple to advanced
Deep margin elevation
Matrix selection
Fibre and titanium post placement
Short fibre composites
Onlays, crowns and vertipreps
Provisional restorations
-
Module 4: 13th-14th May 2027 — Endodontic Re-treatment
Learn the techniques to make excellent yet quick decisions to ensure you pick the cases that are winners — and the techniques to efficiently re-treat most cases.
GP removal — multiple techniques
Thermafil removal — multiple techniques
Metal post removal
Fibre post removal
Two simulated cases, end to end. Full workflow on a complex case, recapping every skill taught across the course.
