Incidental Orthodontic Practicalities Course
The Orthodontic Practicalities Course Premise:
In 2025 our friend and colleague Zaid Esmail released the Online Orthodontic Academy. This superb platform offers a comprehensive level 7 postgraduate diploma (eligible) course and ongoing specialist mentoring.
Orthodontics lends itself to online teaching as much of the work is theoretical and can be taught remotely. Similarly, much of the mentoring can be best provided with high quality photographs and intraoral scans.
Having completed Zaid’s excellent course we felt there was an opportunity for a short ‘hands-on’ companion course that focussed on the practical aspects of orthodontic treatment that are harder to deliver adequately online.
This practical masterclass course is for all dentists providing orthodontics who want a contemporary update on interproximal reduction (IPR), bracket positioning, wire bending and fixed retainer placement.
Utilising our state-of-the-art phantom head facility, delegates will engage in realistic simulations that mirror clinical scenarios, ensuring a seamless transition from the training environment to everyday practice.
This course serves as an ideal foundation for those pursuing a Diploma in Orthodontics through the Online Orthodontic Academy and is equally valuable for delegates eager to elevate their clinical skills and orthodontic expertise.
Practical Exercises Covered:
Bracket Placement & Bonding: Techniques for accurate bracket positioning on both typodont models and extracted teeth.
Archwire Selection & Insertion: Hands-on practice with various wire types and insertion methods.
Wire Bending Techniques: Introduction to first, second, and third-order bends for effective tooth movement.
Interproximal Reduction (IPR): Safe and efficient methods for space creation.
Fixed Retainer Fabrication & Placement: Steps for creating and bonding fixed retainers to maintain treatment results.
This 2 day course is associated with 14 hours Verifiable CPD.
Course places are limited to small groups personalised feedback and hands-on guidance.
Delegates on our waitlist will have priority booking for new cohorts so please sign up via the link at the bottom of our course booking page if no spaces are currently available.
The course is written and delivered by Zaid Esmail.
